Now that summer has arrived, I am back on my extreme painting schedule.
The first thing on my table this summer was a maulerfiend. In all honesty, this was my first time painting one of these. I have never actually owned one before. This model was a lot of fun, and since it was my first time I didn't do any conversions. I think for my next maulerfiend, I am going to do something different for the head.
After the maulerfiend, I knew I needed to get some more infantry done, so I went with another squad of bloodletters. These are in the same style as my others, so nothing too special here.
You can never have too many bloodletters
My current project is a renegade knight. I have been doing full magnetization with the different arm options. Once I can get a couple more bits, I should be able to swap out all arm combinations (including double ranged weapons).
A preview of one of the conversions I am working on.
Nice. I like what you did with the bletters and the claw hand!
ReplyDeleteLooking very cool, can't wait to see how that knight progresses!
ReplyDeleteHow are you liking KDK at the moment? I keep trying to get into them, before realising my daemons just do it better (although can be somewhat exhausting to play with, and annoying to play against).
Honestly, about the only thing KDK can say they have on equal footing with the daemons is dog spam. Most KDK lists that do well in tournaments consist of 2 formations of hounds+bikes which allows for 8 squads of MSU hounds. Sure you lose the warp storm table and the +1 attack from the Murderhorde, but you can join CSMs to them (sorcerer cabal) and you get all the goodness of Hammer of Wrath + blood tithes (FnP, hatred, extra attack, etc). Not necessarily better than a Murderhoarde, just a different way to play them.
DeleteAlso fearless from KDK is a really nice improvement over daemonic instability.
DeleteNothing like your first entire army wipe when losing a giant mosh pit battle on the relic!
DeleteFor me, KDK is simply the most fun army to play. I absolutely love the bood tithe mechanic. It ends up being more competitive than traditional CSM lists, and I like the play style a bit better than daemons.
ReplyDeleteI really wish the CSM Starter had a maulerfiend in it instead of a helbrute. I already have 6 helbrutes...
DeleteHere's to hoping its formation rules prove competitive for the good of both CSM and KDK!
Don't worry, the entire formation will get stubborn on the turn the Helbrute dies or something equally useless like that.
DeleteIt's worse than that lol. I could have at least made stubborn work using allies. Instead you get HATRED... on models that will never see melee combat.
DeleteYeah... Hatred was actually the first thing I joked about when I saw we were getting a starter kit. Honestly, I'm surprised it wasn't tied to a turn in which the Helbrute or the Lord died... straight-up Hatred was way more than I gave GW credit for.
DeleteBut yeah, it's pretty useless. Give us Hatred on our terrible Helbrute that never gets to combat and gets like 2 attacks when he finally does! And give us Hatred on foot-slogging units that are terrible in CC and will likely have boltguns/special weapons! Meanwhile Tempest gets a forever reviving squad of guys...
The knight claw is just looking murdersome! Nice looking maulerfiend was well!
